{"id":7516,"date":"2014-05-07T19:25:30","date_gmt":"2014-05-08T00:25:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=7516"},"modified":"2014-05-07T19:25:30","modified_gmt":"2014-05-08T00:25:30","slug":"usps-prepares-to-rollout-smartphones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2014\/05\/07\/usps-prepares-to-rollout-smartphones\/","title":{"rendered":"USPS prepares to rollout smartphones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>USPS &#8211; 5\/7\/14<br \/>\n<em><a href=\"https:\/\/liteblue.usps.gov\/news\/link\/2014\/03mar\/news31s2.htm\" target=\"_blank\">MobileACE<\/a><\/em>\u00a0\u2014 a phased rollout of smartphones \u2014 will begin in mid-May, providing employees with options for replacing or upgrading their BlackBerrys.<\/p>\n<p>Headquarter employees recently had an opportunity to test the features of the new smartphones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new smartphone devices will better align the Postal Service with the trending needs of a mobile workforce and increase employee productivity and responsiveness,\u201d said CIO Jim Cochrane. <a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/smartphone-rollout.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-7517\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/smartphone-rollout.gif\" alt=\"smartphone-rollout\" width=\"275\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmployees will now have Postal apps available on their smartphones, aiding their productivity and allowing them to be more flexible from the traditional working hours,\u201d added John Edgar, Information Technology VP.<\/p>\n<p>Current BlackBerry users will receive emails with detailed instructions for ordering and activating one of the following new smartphones:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>iPhone<\/li>\n<li>Samsung Galaxy<\/li>\n<li>BlackBerry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Upgrading to the new smartphones is voluntary and at the user\u2019s convenience, once the email from IT is received.<\/p>\n<p>Edgar says that returning their old BlackBerry is a win-win for the Postal Service.
