{"id":7500,"date":"2014-05-06T07:51:06","date_gmt":"2014-05-06T12:51:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=7500"},"modified":"2014-05-06T07:51:06","modified_gmt":"2014-05-06T12:51:06","slug":"retirees-to-receive-final-early-retirement-incentive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2014\/05\/06\/retirees-to-receive-final-early-retirement-incentive\/","title":{"rendered":"Retirees to Receive Final Early Retirement Incentive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>May 5, 2014\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Thousands of former postal employees who took advantage of the Voluntary Early Retirement Incentive in 2013 will be returning to the post office where they last worked to pick up their final incentive check on May 23, reports Retirees Department Director Judy Beard. <a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/1aa-APWU-small.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-7249\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/1aa-APWU-small.gif\" alt=\"1aa-APWU-small\" width=\"295\" height=\"182\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This presents a great opportunity to invite these former APWU members to join the union\u2019s Retirees Department, Beard said. \u201cWhen the retirees arrive for their checks, union members and officers will have the opportunity to recognize them for the hard work they did as postal employees, thank those who were APWU members and who continue to support us as members of the Retirees Department, and recruit those who have not yet joined the department,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf a retiree chapter is affiliated with your local, please include chapter members in your organizing drive,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Local presidents and secretary-treasurers can download a list of retirees who haven\u2019t joined the department. To do so, log-in to the Members Only section of\u00a0http:\/\/www.apwu.org\/\u00a0and select \u201cNon-Member VER\u201d on the left side of the screen.
