{"id":6916,"date":"2014-01-09T20:43:59","date_gmt":"2014-01-10T01:43:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=6916"},"modified":"2014-01-09T20:43:59","modified_gmt":"2014-01-10T01:43:59","slug":"apwu-new-york-metro-sends-delegations-to-staples","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2014\/01\/09\/apwu-new-york-metro-sends-delegations-to-staples\/","title":{"rendered":"APWU: New York Metro Sends Delegations to Staples"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The APWU\u2019s New York Metro Area Local sent delegations to three Staples stores on Jan. 8 and 9 to deliver letters protesting the establishment of postal retail units staffed by low-wage, non-union, non-postal workers. <a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/4-APWU-Small.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-6533\" alt=\"4-APWU-Small\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/4-APWU-Small.gif\" width=\"322\" height=\"181\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt felt good to take action,\u201d said Chuck Zlatkin, the local\u2019s Legislative and Political Director. \u201cYou see the Staples sign and you want to do something. This was easy \u2014 it was fun,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Staples managers all had a similar reaction,\u201d Zlatkin reported. \u201cAt first they gave us that \u2018deer in the headlights\u2019 look.
