Members of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs were scheduled to meet on Dec. 18 to act on S. 1486, which was introduced by Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) and Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) in August. <a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/4-APWU-Small1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-6545\" alt=\"4-APWU-Small\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/4-APWU-Small1.gif\" width=\"322\" height=\"181\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re pleased that Sen. Carper has postponed a committee vote on the bill,\u201d said APWU President Mark Dimondstein. \u201cBut our fight is not over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need legislation that will end the manufactured financial crisis and protect the USPS as a public postal service. The four postal unions are committed to working together to accomplish those goals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The presidents and legislative officers of the four postal unions met with Sen.
