The projections show an aging and more racially and ethnically diverse labor force, and employment growth in service-providing industries. More than half of the new jobs will be in professional and related occupations and service occupations.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, occupations where a postsecondary degree or award is usually required are expected to account for one-third of total job openings during the projection period. Job openings from replacement needs&#8211;those which occur when workers who retire or otherwise leave their occupations need to be replaced are projected to be more than double the number of openings due to economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>According to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">their<\/span> report the United States Postal Service will see the following reductions in employees:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Postal service mail sorters, processors, and processing machine operators:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Approximate 2008 number of employees 180, 000<br \/>\nApproximate 2018 number of employees 125,000<br \/>\nApproximate Change: Estimated number of employees loss 55,000 or 30.3%<\/p>\n<p><strong>Postal service clerks:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Approximate 2008 number of employees 76,000<br \/>\nApproximate 2018 number of employees 62,000<br \/>\nApproximate Change: Estimated number of employees loss 14,000 or 18%<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source:<\/strong> U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 11, 2009 The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says&#8230; During the period from 2008-2018 total (national) employment is projected to increase by 15.3 million, or 10.1 percent.
