{"id":5252,"date":"2012-10-03T18:32:17","date_gmt":"2012-10-03T23:32:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=5252"},"modified":"2012-10-03T18:32:17","modified_gmt":"2012-10-03T23:32:17","slug":"prc-a-request-for-input-from-the-public","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2012\/10\/03\/prc-a-request-for-input-from-the-public\/","title":{"rendered":"PRC: A Request For Input From the Public"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/PRC-News1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5253\" title=\"PRC News\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/PRC-News1-150x150.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chairman&#8217;s Message<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>A Request For Input From the Public<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As the primary regulator of the U.S. Postal Service, the Postal Regulatory Commission\u2019s core responsibility is to ensure transparency and accountability of Postal Service operations that have a nationwide impact on service.<\/p>\n<p>On August 23, 2012, the Commission issued its Advisory Opinion on the Postal Service\u2019s Post Office Structure Plan (POStPlan), an initiative to match post office retail hours with workload, Docket N2012-2.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission acknowledges that under POStPlan more than 13,000 post offices nationwide may experience a reduction in retail service and customer convenience related to decreases in weekday hours of operation.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission based its Opinion of POStPlan on public policy and in support of the Postal Service\u2019s option to alleviate the likelihood of having to completely shutter community post offices.
