We have a special responsibility to make our organization as sustainable as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chief Sustainability Officer Thomas G. Day agreed: \u201cBy continuing to work on new strategies to reach our targets and define new and better practices to support those efforts, USPS continues to show customers and the mailing industry that it\u2019s possible to provide great service and be sustainable at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>USPS saved more than $55 million in fiscal year 2011 by reducing energy, water, consumables use and the amount of solid waste sent to landfills.
