{"id":39128,"date":"2026-03-12T13:00:40","date_gmt":"2026-03-12T18:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=39128"},"modified":"2026-03-12T13:00:40","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T18:00:40","slug":"senator-ricketts-letter-calls-on-usps-to-improve-operations-affecting-service-across-nebraska","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2026\/03\/12\/senator-ricketts-letter-calls-on-usps-to-improve-operations-affecting-service-across-nebraska\/","title":{"rendered":"Senator Ricketts Letter Calls on USPS to Improve Operations Affecting Service Across Nebraska"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013<\/strong><strong> 3\/12\/26 &#8211; <\/strong>Today,\u00a0U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) sent a letter to the Omaha Processing and Distribution Center (P&amp;DC),\u00a0calling on an improvement to operations\u00a0based on an audit by the United States Postal Service Office of the Inspector General (USPS OIG).\u00a0The letter was addressed to Director Daniel Hirai, senior processing operations leader for the Midwest Division branch at USPS.\u00a0The Omaha center serves as a hub for all of Nebraska.<\/p>\n<p>In the letter, Senator Ricketts detailed how Nebraskans have\u00a0increasingly\u00a0reported late deliveries, lost mail, and a decreased trust in the reliability of the USPS.\u00a0This has led to detrimental\u00a0financial and health impacts.<\/p>\n<p>The letter reads:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI respectfully encourage the Omaha Processing and Distribution Center (P&amp;DC) to continue carrying out recommendations from the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General (USPS OIG). The USPS OIG has brought attention to several deficiencies within the Omaha P&amp;DC. All Nebraskans and Americans rely on our post office services to provide timely and efficient services. These fixes will help ensure our constituents\u2019 mail is being properly handled.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSeveral constituents have shared complications related to sending sensitive materials such as checks and prescriptions through the USPS.\u00a0 A constituent who sent a check that was never delivered went to the Plattsmouth post office to report the issue.\u00a0 They were told that lost mail was a common occurrence.
