In July 2022, the water supply was shut off for non-payment and was not returned to service until the day after OSHA\u2019s \u00a0inspection. Inspectors determined the facility made an \u00a0employee work there without running water or a usable bathroom for more than a month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Proposed penalties:<\/strong>\u00a0$13,840<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quote:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cEmployers must ensure a safe and healthful workplace by making sure workers have access to water for drinking and sanitation,\u201d explained OSHA Area Director Brian Rizzo in Norfolk, Virginia. \u201cU.S. Postal Service management responsible for this facility should have acted more quickly to protect employee health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong>:\u00a0The USPS has 15 business days from\u00a0receipt of its citations\u00a0and penalties to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA\u2019s area director, or contest the findings before the independent\u00a0Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"field field--name-field-agency-reference field--type-entity-reference field--label-inline clearfix\">\n<div><strong>Agency<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Occupational Safety &amp;
