Mail items and packages were <strong>delivered within 2.5 days<\/strong>\u00a0on average\u00a0<strong>(16 billion in volume)<\/strong>, compared to\u00a0<strong>2.8 days<\/strong>\u00a0during the same period last year (Nov. 15 \u2013 Jan. 9). On-time delivery scores were higher virtually across the board, with the best scores being in its last mile Destination Delivery Units (DDU). The DDU space is the subject of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/about.usps.com\/newsroom\/national-releases\/2025\/1217-usps-announces-bid-solicitation-for-access-to-last-mile-delivery-network.htm\">USPS bid solicitation process<\/a>\u00a0beginning later this month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese results reflect the tenacity of our workforce as well as the network improvements we continue to implement,\u201d said Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer David Steiner. \u201cWe will keep improving service throughout the coming year \u2014 optimizing our network, strengthening reliability, improving delivery times, and ensuring high value products and services for residential and business customers in every community we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Compared to last year\u2019s holiday season, the Postal Service also recorded a\u00a0<strong>23-percent reduction in calls<\/strong>\u00a0to its Customer Care Center (1-800-ASK-USPS) and a\u00a0<strong>44-percent decline in package-related customer service inquiries<\/strong>.
