{"id":38811,"date":"2025-12-26T10:05:50","date_gmt":"2025-12-26T15:05:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=38811"},"modified":"2025-12-26T10:07:24","modified_gmt":"2025-12-26T15:07:24","slug":"serial-mail-thief-pleads-guilty-to-felony-theft-charge-sentenced-to-prison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2025\/12\/26\/serial-mail-thief-pleads-guilty-to-felony-theft-charge-sentenced-to-prison\/","title":{"rendered":"Serial Mail Thief Pleads Guilty to Felony Theft Charge, Sentenced to Prison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Chicago, IL<\/strong> \u2013 12\/22\/25 &#8211; Following a joint investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Chicago Police Department, Ralph Rodriguez, 42, of Chicago, IL, pleaded guilty in Cook County Criminal Court on December 2, 2025, to one felony count of theft and was sentenced to three years in prison due to his status as a recidivist.<\/p>\n<p>Rodriguez was arrested in Chicago on April 16, 2025, after being identified as the suspect responsible for multiple mail theft incidents on Chicago\u2019s Northwest side, beginning in 2024. Based on the investigation, Rodriguez was charged by the Cook County State\u2019s Attorney\u2019s Office with one felony count of theft.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis sentencing is a statement that mail theft will not be tolerated, and the perpetrators will be brought to justice,\u201d said Ruth M.
