Through regular mailbox maintenance efficient mail delivery, enhanced neighborhood curb appeal, and improved postal service operations are better ensured.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mailbox care tips<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Postal Service annually calls attention to Mailbox Awareness Week because of the wear and tear that occurs to mailboxes throughout the year. Some of the typical activities homeowners may need to do include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Replacing loose hinges on a mailbox door.<\/li>\n<li>Repainting a mailbox that may have rusted or has started to peel.<\/li>\n<li>Remounting a loosened mailbox post.<\/li>\n<li>Replacing or adding house numbers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Keeping security top-of-mind<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>USPS partners with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service to keep postal employees, the mail stream, and the American public safe, prevent incidents through education and awareness, and enforce the laws that protect our nation\u2019s mail network.<\/p>\n<p>Tips to secure your mail include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Promptly pick up your mail:\u00a0<\/strong>Try not to leave letters\u00a0and packages in your mailbox or at your door for any length of time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Report mailbox vandalism:\u00a0<\/strong>If you see someone actively tampering with a mailbox, immediately report it to the police.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you know of someone who committed an act of mailbox vandalism, report it to Postal Inspectors at\u00a0<a href=\"tel:18778762455\">1-877-<\/a><a href=\"tel:18778762455\">876-2455<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>LEARN MORE:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usps.com\/manage\/mailboxes.htm\"><em>How to Set Up &amp; Mount a Mailbox<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Extending mailbox reach through Informed Delivery by USPS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With Informed Delivery, customers can see photos of their mail before it arrives and receive notifications when it\u2019s delivered. Customers can also get Daily Digest emails that preview their mail and packages scheduled to arrive soon.
