Vance, after previously pleading guilty to the\u00a0four-count indictment charging him with\u00a0unlawful delay of U.S. Mail matter by a postal employee, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1703(a) and theft of U.S. Mail matter by a postal employee, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1709.<\/p>\n<p>According to court documents, between on or about July, 2022, through October 4, 2022,\u00a0<strong>BROWN<\/strong>\u00a0unlawfully secreted, detained, and delayed U.S. mail entrusted to him as a postal employee; and on September 26, 2022, September 27, 2022, and October 3, 2022,\u00a0<strong>BROWN<\/strong>\u00a0did knowingly embezzle, steal, abstract, and remove checks from U.S. mail entrusted to him as a postal employee.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his incarceration sentence, Judge Vance also sentenced\u00a0<strong>BROWN\u00a0<\/strong>to three (3) years of supervised release.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>BROWN\u00a0<\/strong>must additionally pay a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson praised the work of the\u00a0United States Postal Service, Office of the Inspector General and the Gretna Police Department.\u00a0 The case was prosecuted by\u00a0Assistant United States Attorney Troy L.
