{"id":37631,"date":"2025-03-24T17:25:14","date_gmt":"2025-03-24T22:25:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=37631"},"modified":"2025-03-24T17:25:14","modified_gmt":"2025-03-24T22:25:14","slug":"postmaster-general-louis-dejoy-announces-today-as-his-last-day-as-pmg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2025\/03\/24\/postmaster-general-louis-dejoy-announces-today-as-his-last-day-as-pmg\/","title":{"rendered":"Postmaster General Louis DeJoy Announces Today as His Last Day as PMG"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"entry-title\">USPS releases statements on leadership transition<\/h1>\n<h2 class=\"sub-head\">DeJoy announces last day in role, Tulino to serve as acting PMG<\/h2>\n<div class=\"entry-meta\"><span class=\"posted-on\"><time class=\"entry-date published\" datetime=\"2025-03-24T17:44:06-04:00\">Today &#8211; 3\/24\/25 &#8211; at 5:44 p.m. ET<\/time><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong><em>USPS released the following statements from Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and USPS Board of Governors Chair Amber McReynolds on March 24:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Postmaster General Louis DeJoy<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After nearly five years as America\u2019s 75th postmaster general, and after informing the governors in February of my intention to retire, I have today informed the Postal Service Board of Governors that today will be my last day in this role. <a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/PMG-DeJoy-Photo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-37632\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/PMG-DeJoy-Photo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"371\" height=\"559\" srcset=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/PMG-DeJoy-Photo.jpg 371w, https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/PMG-DeJoy-Photo-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 371px) 100vw, 371px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I believe strongly that the organization is well positioned and capable of carrying forward and fully implementing the many strategies and initiatives that comprise our transformation and modernization, and I have been working closely with the deputy postmaster general to prepare for this transition.<\/p>\n<p>While our management team and the men and women of the Postal Service have established the path toward financial sustainability and high operating performance \u2014 and we have instituted enormous beneficial change to what had been an adrift and moribund organization \u2014 much work remains that is necessary to sustain our positive trajectory.<\/p>\n<p>I am confident that Doug will continue our positive momentum during the period when the governors undertake the important work of identifying and selecting the next postmaster general.\u00a0 I also have no doubt that the entirety of the Postal Service will aggressively shape its future and become more efficient, capable, and competitive as it continuously changes and improves to best serve the American public.<\/p>\n<p>It is with great pride that I pass the baton to Deputy Postmaster General Doug Tulino until the governors name my permanent successor. The governors have hired a search firm in support of those efforts, which are well underway. I shall cheer on America\u2019s 76th Postmaster General and the 640,000 men and women of the United States Postal Service who I have called my colleagues and friends for close to five years.<\/p>\n<p>It has been one of the pleasures of my life and a crowning achievement of my career to have been associated with this cherished institution, the United State Postal Service.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>USPS Board of Governors Chair Amber McReynolds<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Louis DeJoy has steadfastly served the nation and the Postal Service over the past five years. The governors greatly appreciate his enduring leadership and his tireless efforts to modernize the Postal Service and reverse decades of neglect.<\/p>\n<p>Louis is a fighter, and he has fought hard for the women and men of the Postal Service and to ensure that the American people have reliable and affordable service for years to come. I commend Postmaster General DeJoy for inspiring the Postal Service with strategic direction, a competitive spirit and a culture of achievement that comes from the successful implementation of large-scale change.
