Ossoff on Postmaster General\u2019s Announcement to Step Down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington D.C.\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 2\/18\/25 &#8211; Today, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff released the following statement after USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy <a class=\"external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/federalnewsnetwork.com\/people\/2025\/02\/dejoy-announces-plans-to-step-down-as-usps-postmaster-general\/\">announced<span class=\"sr-only\">This is an external link<\/span><i class=\"fas fa-external-link-alt\"><\/i><\/a>\u00a0he is planning to step down from his role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUSPS leadership has failed Georgia for over a year, leading to abysmal on-time performance and hardship for families, businesses, seniors, and veterans. That\u2019s why I\u2019ve led aggressive oversight to demand better performance and prevent disastrous delays across our state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the USPS Board of Governors begins its search for a replacement, I urge them to find new leadership that will swiftly restore normal service that Georgia families and businesses can rely on, and I will continue holding them accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Ossoff has conducted vigorous oversight of USPS and pressured leadership to improve performance after delays impacting Georgians throughout the last year.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Sen. Ossoff\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/press-releases\/sen-ossoff-launches-inquiry-into-mail-delays-impacting-georgia-veterans\/\">launched an inquiry<\/a>\u00a0with the U.S. Postmaster General demanding that USPS deliver prescriptions, medications, and VA appointment notices to Georgia veterans on time, after receiving reports from Georgians that they are receiving prescriptions late and appointment notices after their scheduled appointments.<\/p>\n<p>Last year,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ossoff.senate.gov\/press-releases\/watch-sen-ossoff-presses-usps-postmaster-general-under-oath-amid-lengthy-delays-at-palmetto-distribution-center\/\">Sen. Ossoff questioned Postmaster General DeJoy<\/a>\u00a0under oath during a U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing about the delays.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Sen.
