{"id":36878,"date":"2024-12-05T11:56:33","date_gmt":"2024-12-05T16:56:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=36878"},"modified":"2024-12-05T11:56:33","modified_gmt":"2024-12-05T16:56:33","slug":"usps-releases-report-on-2024-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2024\/12\/05\/usps-releases-report-on-2024-election\/","title":{"rendered":"USPS releases report on 2024 election"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"sub-head\">The organization delivered more than 99 million ballots<\/h2>\n<p>USPS News Link &#8211; 12\/3\/24 &#8211; The Postal Service processed 99.22 million ballots for last month\u2019s general election, with 99.88 percent delivered from voters to election officials within seven days.<\/p>\n<p>On average, completed ballots were delivered from voters to election officials within one day.<\/p>\n<p>The data, which covers the period from Sept. 1 through Nov. 15, is included in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/about.usps.com\/what\/government-services\/election-mail\/pdf\/usps-post-election-report-2024-12-02.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a post-election analysis report<\/a>\u00a0that USPS released this week.<\/p>\n<p>The report also shows 99.64 percent of ballots sent by voters to election officials were delivered within five days, while 97.73 percent of ballots sent by voters to election officials were delivered within three days.<\/p>\n<p>The Postal Service also deployed extraordinary measures in the weeks before Election Day in areas of the Southeast that were devastated by hurricanes Helene and Milton. As a result, performance results for votes by mail from those affected areas were comparable with the rest of the nation, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>The extraordinary measures included extra deliveries and collections, special pickups; specialized sorting plans at processing facilities to expedite delivery to local election boards; and local handling and transportation of ballots.<\/p>\n<p>The organization delivered 3.37 billion pieces of Political Mail and Election Mail in 2024, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>The Postal Service report also offers recommendations to election officials in the nearly 8,000 election jurisdictions across the nation, including:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Following and implementing the organization\u2019s advice on mailpiece preparation;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Applying visibility tools to Election Mail and Ballot Mail;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Understanding postal operations; and<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Continuing voter education initiatives on state laws and reasonable mailing deadlines.<\/p>\n<p>The organization\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/about.usps.com\/newsroom\/national-releases\/2024\/1202-usps-releases-2024-post-election-analysis-report.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dec. 2 news release<\/a>\u00a0has more information.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/USPS495.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-30360\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/USPS495-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/USPS495-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/USPS495-30x30.jpg 30w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The organization delivered more than 99 million ballots USPS News Link &#8211; 12\/3\/24 &#8211; The Postal Service processed 99.22 million ballots for last month\u2019s general election, with 99.88 percent delivered from voters to election officials within seven days.
