{"id":36802,"date":"2024-11-22T10:41:19","date_gmt":"2024-11-22T15:41:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=36802"},"modified":"2024-11-22T10:57:04","modified_gmt":"2024-11-22T15:57:04","slug":"two-men-indicted-on-charges-connected-to-violent-robbery-of-mail-carrier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2024\/11\/22\/two-men-indicted-on-charges-connected-to-violent-robbery-of-mail-carrier\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Men Indicted on Charges Connected to Violent Robbery of Mail Carrier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DENVER \u2013 11\/21\/24 &#8211; The United States Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of Colorado announces that Marquis Taylor, 28, and Elijah Woods, 21, were indicted by a federal grand jury on one count each of conspiracy, assault with intent to rob a U.S. Postal Carrier, and mail theft.<\/p>\n<p>According to the indictment and connected court filings, in September of 2023, Taylor, Woods, and a third man, Dravell Emon Ross, 28, committed a strong-arm robbery of a postal carrier while she was on duty in her mail truck taking her lunch break.\u00a0 The robbery occurred near Utah Park in Aurora in the middle of the day.\u00a0The three men attempted to obtain a universal mailbox key from the postal carrier in order to access community mailboxes.\u00a0The men were unable to steal the universal key, but did steal various pieces of mail, packages, and a postal scanner.\u00a0The postal carrier suffered minor injuries as a result of the robbery.<\/p>\n<p>On July 17, 2024, Ross was sentenced to federal prison for four years in connection with his role in the robbery. On November 13, 2024, Taylor was arrested and is detained pending trial.\u00a0 Woods was released on bond while the charges remain outstanding.\u00a0 The trial for Taylor and Woods is currently scheduled in federal district court for March 31, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The case is being investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service.\u00a0 The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Neff.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/j495.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-33705\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/j495-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/j495-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/j495-30x30.jpg 30w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DENVER \u2013 11\/21\/24 &#8211; The United States Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of Colorado announces that Marquis Taylor, 28, and Elijah Woods, 21, were indicted by a federal grand jury on one count each of conspiracy, assault with intent to rob a U.S. Postal Carrier, and mail theft.
