Brubaker, the Inspector in Charge of the New York Division of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (\u201cUSPIS\u201d), announced today that ANTHONY ALFANO was arrested after he made a series of graphic and violent threats to kill U.S. Postal Service (\u201cUSPS\u201d) employees and burn down U.S. post offices in Ossining, New York. \u00a0ALFANO was arrested in Yorktown Heights, New York, this morning and is expected to appear this afternoon in White Plains federal court before U.S. Magistrate Judge Victoria Reznik.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said: \u201cThe charges against the defendant underscore this Office\u2019s unwavering commitment to swiftly collaborate with our law enforcement partners to neutralize threats against the U.S. mail system.\u00a0 Any individual who dares to cross the line and threaten our postal employees and facilities with violence and destruction will be stopped in their tracks, and we will ensure they are held accountable for their actions.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>USPIS Inspector in Charge Daniel B. Brubaker said: \u201cThe U.S. Postal Inspection Service does not take lightly any threats of violence against USPS employees. \u00a0This behavior will never be tolerated, and we will work with our local and federal law enforcement partners to maintain a safe working environment for the postal employees we protect. \u00a0That is our mission, and that is our unwavering commitment to the people we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As alleged in the Complaint:<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, June 22, 2024, ANTHONY ALFANO was awaiting the delivery of a parcel that had been mailed out via USPS from Florida the evening before. \u00a0According to ALFANO, the parcel contained cremated remains. \u00a0In a series of phone calls with USPS call center representatives before the package was scheduled to arrive, ALFANO threatened to kill USPS employees and burn down U.S. post offices because he apparently believed the parcel was not going to arrive when he wanted it to. \u00a0ALFANO\u2019s threats included the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ALFANO threatened, \u201cI am gonna start killing you guys one by one.\u201d \u00a0He also said, \u201cpeople are going to die,\u201d and that there would be \u201ca lot of dead bodies,\u201d \u201churt people,\u201d and people who would \u201cnot be returning home.\u201d \u00a0ALFANO also swore to kill his local mail carrier, stating that he would \u201cwalk up to him\u201d and \u201cblow his brains out.\u201d \u00a0Referencing a notorious \u201cmassacre,\u201d ALFANO warned that it would not \u201chave shit on what I\u2019m about to do\u201d and that his actions would go down \u201cin history.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>ALFANO also made threats to kill members of the postal police by using incendiary ammunition, as well as threats to burn down U.S. post offices. \u00a0For example, he welcomed the arrival of the postal police and said, \u201cas soon as they show up at my door they\u2019re gonna catch a hot one,\u201d referring to shooting them with a \u201cnapalm round\u201d from his 12-gauge shotgun. \u00a0\u201cI\u2019m going to kill every one of those motherfuckers,\u201d he said. \u00a0He further threatened, \u201cI\u2019m gonna burn all the post offices down to the ground\u201d and said he would go to his local post office and \u201cburn it down to the fucking ground.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Underscoring his commitment to carry out his threats, ALFANO said several times, \u201cI\u00a0don\u2019t make threats, I make promises.\u201d \u00a0He also expressly swore to carry out his threats and said, \u201cI really don\u2019t care if I go to jail or not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, June 24, 2024, ALFANO received his parcel on the next business day after it had been mailed out on the Friday before.<\/p>\n<p>ALFANO has a history of encounters with law enforcement because of prior threats he has made against others, including local police officers, delivery persons, and customer service representatives.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 *\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 *<\/p>\n<p>ANTHONY ALFANO, 46, of Ossining, New York, is charged with threatening interstate communications, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, and willfully making a threat involving fire, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>The maximum potential sentences in this case are prescribed by Congress and are provided here for informational purposes only, as any sentencing of the defendant will be determined by a judge.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Williams praised the outstanding work of the USPIS in investigating the threats charged in the Complaint and undertaking security measures to protect USPS employees and facilities.\u00a0 Mr. Williams also thanked the Village of Ossining Police Department and City of Peekskill Police Department for their assistance in this case.<\/p>\n<p>This case is being handled by the Office\u2019s White Plains Division.\u00a0 Assistant U.S. Attorney Reyhan Watson is in charge of the prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>The charges contained in the Complaint are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/j495.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-33705\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/j495-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/j495-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/j495-30x30.jpg 30w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>7\/19\/24 &#8211;
