{"id":35410,"date":"2024-05-11T09:41:43","date_gmt":"2024-05-11T14:41:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=35410"},"modified":"2024-05-11T09:41:43","modified_gmt":"2024-05-11T14:41:43","slug":"federal-indictment-charges-man-with-robbing-u-s-postal-service-employee-in-chicago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2024\/05\/11\/federal-indictment-charges-man-with-robbing-u-s-postal-service-employee-in-chicago\/","title":{"rendered":"Federal Indictment Charges Man with Robbing U.S. Postal Service Employee in Chicago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text-align-justify\">CHICAGO \u20145\/10\/24 &#8211; A federal grand jury has indicted a man for allegedly robbing a U.S. Postal Service employee in Chicago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\">RICHARD THOMPSON, 52, of Chicago, took an arrow key from the Postal Service employee on Nov. 10, 2023, according to an indictment unsealed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Chicago.\u00a0 Thompson used a dangerous weapon during the robbery, putting the Postal Service employee\u2019s life in jeopardy, the indictment states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\">The indictment charges Thompson with one count of robbery of a Postal Service employee.\u00a0 The charge is punishable by a maximum sentence of 25 years in federal prison.\u00a0 Thompson was arrested on Thursday.\u00a0 He pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Thursday afternoon and was ordered to remain detained in federal custody.\u00a0 A status hearing is set for June 14, 2024, before U.S. District Judge Andrea R.
