{"id":33442,"date":"2023-03-18T10:25:51","date_gmt":"2023-03-18T15:25:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=33442"},"modified":"2023-03-18T10:25:51","modified_gmt":"2023-03-18T15:25:51","slug":"pennsylvania-postal-service-employee-charged-with-mail-theft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2023\/03\/18\/pennsylvania-postal-service-employee-charged-with-mail-theft\/","title":{"rendered":"Pennsylvania Postal Service Employee Charged with Mail Theft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PITTSBURGH &#8211; 3\/16\/23 &#8211; A resident of Rochester, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of violating federal Postal laws, Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced today.<\/p>\n<p>The one-count Indictment named Adam Gallagher, age 38, as the sole defendant.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Indictment, on Oct. 19, 2022, Gallagher engaged in theft of mail matter while employed by the United States Postal Service.<\/p>\n<p>The law provides for a maximum total sentence of not more than five years in prison, a fine of not more than $250,000, a term of supervised release of not more than three years, or a combination thereof. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant United States Attorney Gregory C. Melucci is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.<\/p>\n<p>The United States Postal Inspection Services conducted the investigation leading to the Indictment in this case.<\/p>\n<p>An indictment is an accusation.
