{"id":29330,"date":"2020-09-25T09:53:46","date_gmt":"2020-09-25T14:53:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=29330"},"modified":"2020-09-25T09:53:46","modified_gmt":"2020-09-25T14:53:46","slug":"usps-investigating-trays-of-mail-absentee-ballots-found-in-wisconsin-ditch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2020\/09\/25\/usps-investigating-trays-of-mail-absentee-ballots-found-in-wisconsin-ditch\/","title":{"rendered":"USPS investigating trays of mail, absentee ballots found in Wisconsin ditch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/embed.js?id=6190614397001&#038;w=640&#038;h=360\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">?<\/span><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Postal Service is investigating how three trays of mail, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/judge-wisconsin-voting-case-student-ids-presidential-election\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">absentee ballots<\/a>, ended up in a ditch line in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/us-regions\/midwest\/wisconsin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wisconsin<\/a>, a swing state whose voters could prove crucial in the upcoming elections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">The Outagamie County Sheriff&#8217;s Office said the mail was found around 8 a.m. Monday morning near the intersection of highways 96 and CB, near the Appleton International Airport.<\/p>\n<p>Police told Fox News the mail was supposed to be in transit to the post office and when discovered, was immediately returned to the Postal Inspector.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The United States Postal Inspection Service immediately began investigating and we reserve further comment on this matter until that is complete,&#8221; USPS spokesman Bob Sheehan said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The incident comes a mere five weeks before the presidential election, which has been steeped in partisan bickering over the system of mail-in and absentee ballots and wavering trust in the alternate system.
