The United States Postal Service is also exploring ways to use delivery robots.<\/p>\n<div class=\"BoxInline-container  \">\n<div id=\"BoxInline-ArticleBody-6\" class=\"BoxInline-container\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>According to a post on the\u00a0<a tabindex=\"-32768\" title=\"\" role=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/?symbol=AMZN\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" data-type=\"\">Amazon<\/a>\u00a0blog Day One, there are\u00a0<a tabindex=\"-32768\" title=\"\" role=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.aboutamazon.com\/transportation\/meet-scout\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" data-type=\"\">just six Scout robots in existence<\/a>, and they only deliver during daylight hours on weekdays. An Amazon spokesperson who spoke with CNBC could not comment on the program beyond what\u2019s on the blog, so for now the future of the rollout remains murky.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever plans Amazon has for Scout, it\u2019s only natural to wonder what effect widespread adoption would have on the delivery jobs that are currently being performed by human beings. Do these workers need to brace themselves for the possibility that they may soon be obsolete?<\/p>\n<p>According to a\u00a0<a tabindex=\"-32768\" title=\"\" role=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oversight.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/oig-reports\/RARC-WP-18-005.pdf\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" data-type=\"\">2018 report<\/a>\u00a0issued by the United States Postal Service\u2019s Office of the Inspector General, more Americans embrace the idea of robotic delivery than oppose it. Those who support it said robot delivery could offer greater flexibility to package recipients and reduce the risk of injury to delivery personnel. As far as the drawbacks, respondents cited job losses as a primary concern. However, postal delivery workers won\u2019t have to worry about being put out of jobs just yet.
