USPS News Link 12\/26\/18 – USPS employees continued to serve their communities throughout the spring.<\/p>\n

In May, postal workers\u00a0collected 71.6 million pounds of food<\/a><\/em>\u00a0for people in need during Stamp Out Hunger drive, an annual one-day campaign led by the National Association of Letter Carriers.<\/p>\n

The Postal Service also participated in National Dog Bite Prevention Week, which is held each year to promote responsible pet ownership and\u00a0educate employees<\/a><\/em>\u00a0on the importance of protective measures.<\/p>\n

\u201cRaising awareness will help us do our jobs safely,\u201d Lisa Iseah, a Houston letter carrier,\u00a0told<\/a><\/em>reporters at a news conference.<\/p>\n

The April 1-June 30 period was also a time to focus on innovation.<\/p>\n

During the National Postal Forum in May, Postmaster General Megan J. Brennan\u00a0discussed Informed Delivery<\/a><\/em>\u00a0and how it helps USPS make mail more valuable, accessible and predictable.<\/p>\n

\u201cInformed Delivery broadens the definition of the mail moment by bridging the digital and physical. It allows consumers to connect to their physical mail anytime, anywhere,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Other innovations highlighted during the year\u2019s second quarter included Single Package Look-Up, a tool that\u00a0simplifies the parcel location process<\/a><\/em>, and 3-D printing, a method that USPS now uses to\u00a0obtain spare parts<\/a><\/em>\u00a0for mail processing equipment.<\/p>\n

Springtime also brought new stamps \u2014 including the first of this year\u2019s two\u00a0United States Air Mail<\/a><\/em>stamps and a stamp honoring\u00a0Sally Ride<\/a><\/em>\u00a0\u2014 as well as news that the Breast Cancer Research semipostal stamp helped\u00a0fund a landmark study<\/a><\/em>\u00a0on efforts to fight the disease.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
