Brennan:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>11\/07\/18 &#8211; This Veterans Day marks the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, the milestone that established Nov. 11 as the day set aside to\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/link.usps.com\/2018\/11\/05\/veterans-day-4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">honor those who have served<\/a><\/em>\u00a0in the American armed forces.<\/p>\n<p>The Postal Service is proud to be one of the largest civilian employers of veterans; there are more than 100,000\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/link.usps.com\/2018\/11\/06\/those-who-served\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">current or former service members<\/a><\/em>\u00a0contributing to the success of this organization. This year, I am honored to pay tribute to our veterans with special badges and lanyards. Distribution of these items is underway, and military veteran employees will be recognized at local events.<\/p>\n<p>The lanyard is red and features the words \u201cThank you for your service\u201d and \u201c#PostalProud\u201d in white letters. The badges have a front and back side identifying the wearer as a veteran and includes Postal Service and American flag imagery.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-twentyfourteen-full-width  wp-post-image alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/link.usps.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/pmgVeteransDay_large-story.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/link.usps.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/pmgVeteransDay_large-story.jpg 500w, https:\/\/link.usps.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/pmgVeteransDay_large-story-250x300.jpg 250w, https:\/\/link.usps.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/pmgVeteransDay_large-story-71x85.jpg 71w\" alt=\"Special lanyards and badges\" width=\"238\" height=\"286\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Just as our nation came together a century ago to commend American troops for their bravery in the trenches, we strive to show today\u2019s veterans the same respect and appreciation for their sacrifices. It is an honor to salute them for all they have done.<\/p>\n<p>On behalf of all 640,000 employees of the U.S. Postal Service, I thank our veterans for their dedication to public service and for upholding our nation\u2019s values.
