A\u00a0\u00a0was held on the report earlier today. Portman also discussed the FBI\u2019s Russia investigation into their meddling in the U.S. election and his hope that investigators will deliver a thoughtful, nonpartisan report to the American people sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wordsection1\">Excerpts of the interview can be found below:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wordsection1\"><b><u>PORTMAN ON OPIOID CRISIS, FENTANYL INVESTIGATION<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<i>We have to do more, but we\u00a0have actually done a lot in terms of\u00a0funding and changing some laws\u00a0already.\u00a0As you know, I\u2019m the co-author of the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act, which has put more money\u00a0against this problem, but more importantly, it\u2019s put it towards\u00a0evidence-based things that\u00a0are actually working in terms of treatment and recovery and\u00a0prevention.\u00a0Hundreds of millions of dollars more was spent this year than last year, but we have to do it again.\u00a0We have to actually up the spending\u00a0further because the crisis has not abated. It\u2019s gotten worse, not better.\u00a0In my home state of Ohio, we had more\u00a0overdoses this last year, we believe, than\u00a0the previous year.
