Johnstown, PA, Letter Carrier Matthew Lamb, recipient of the NALC\u2019s National Hero of the Year Award, was honored this week in Washington, DC.<\/em><\/h6>\n<\/div>\n

A Postal Service employee who\u00a0rescued<\/i><\/a>\u00a0a grandmother and grandson from a raging house fire in Johnstown, PA, received the top hero of the year award from the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter hearing everyone\u2019s stories, it\u2019s extremely humbling, and it\u2019s truly an honor,\u201d Letter Carrier Matthew Lamb told the audience at the union\u2019s annual luncheon in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n

The NALC also honored three regional heroes: Donte Cotton of Kettering, OH, who\u00a0crawled<\/i><\/a> through shattered glass to rescue a toddler from an overturned car; Daniel Ochoa of Chino, CA, who\u00a0extinguished<\/i><\/a>\u00a0a house fire with swimming pool water; and Clinton Parker of Waterbury, CT, who helped police peacefully resolve an armed standoff.<\/p>\n

PMG Megan J. Brennan, one of the special guests at the event, thanked the award recipients for their contributions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese heroic acts are a testament to the positive impact letter carriers and other postal employees have on their communities, each and every day,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
