USPS 9\/19\/17 – Hurricane Maria made landfall on Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands this morning with sustained winds of 155 mph. The storm brought dangerous winds and torrential rains that are causing flash flooding.<\/p>\n

Jose has been downgraded to a tropical storm, but is expected to produce coastal flooding, high surf, tropical storm-force winds and heavy rain throughout New England and down the Atlantic Coast as far as Delaware.<\/p>\n

All postal facilities on Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands have been closed since yesterday in preparation for Hurricane Maria. As soon as the storm passes and it is safe to do so, USPS will begin to re-open postal facilities on the islands.<\/p>\n
