Author and<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"vm-hook-outer vm-hook-default\"><span class=\"vm-hook\">New York<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Times reporter\u00a0James Barron said it was all but forgotten until a 12-year-old boy discovered one of the stamps in his uncle\u2019s basement in 1873.<\/p>\n<p>At age 10, Weitzman learned about the stamp in 1952 from the cartoon character\u00a0Donald Duck.<\/p>\n<p>In a comic book, which now also is at the Smithsonian, Donald Duck\u00a0launches one of his schemes to get rich quick \u2014 the hunt for the One-Cent Magenta.
