9\/14\/16 – A Wayne County, NY\u00a0postal employee has pleaded guilty to taking nearly $20,000 in stamp revenues, post office box rental payments, and money orders.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors say 26-year-old Jennifer Passeck stole the money while working as a relief postmaster in the Sodus Point post office between March 2013 to March 2015.<\/p>\n

Rochester, N.Y.– U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that a federal grand jury in Rochester, NY has returned a two-count indictment charging Jennifer Passeck of embezzling and converting to her own use proceeds and property of the United States Postal Service. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both.<\/p>\n

Assistant U.S. Attorney Bradley E. Tyler stated that, according to the indictment, the defendant she was a Relief Postmaster in the Sodus Point, NY post office between March 2013 and March 2015. During that time, Passeck is accused of stealing stamps, money orders and post office box rental payments totaling $19,504.<\/p>\n

The indictment is the culmination of an investigation on the part of Inspectors of the United States Postal Service, Office of Inspector General, under the direction of Monica Weyler, Eastern Area Field Office, Philadelphia, PA.<\/p>\n

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.<\/p>\n
