Now, a Shawnee postal worker is under investigation.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-7161\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/OIG-Logo.gif\" alt=\"OIG-Logo\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>U.S. Postal Service Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jeff Krafels, with the Office of Inspector General (OIG), said an active inquiry is underway.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cOn Aug. 30, USPS OIG Special Agents out of our Oklahoma City office received an allegation that a postal employee was hoarding mail in Shawnee,\u201d Krafels said. \u201cOn Sept. 2, our agents recovered the mail and are actively investigating the case.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The employee allegedly responsible is currently in a non-duty status with the USPS, he said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe USPS OIG considers the allegations to be a very serious matter,\u201d Krafels said. \u201cWhen these types of allegations are made, USPS OIG Special Agents vigorously investigate these matters, as we did in this instance.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Krafels said it is important to note that an allegation is merely an accusation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cAll persons are presumed innocent unless otherwise adjudicated by a court of law,\u201d he said. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news-star.com\/news\/20160914\/hoarding-mail-tip-spurs-probe-at-shawnee-post-office\">Read more<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>9\/14\/16 &#8211; The Shawnee News-Star reports that area residents may soon be receiving some overdue mail deliveries after a tip to the U.S. Postal Service led agents to some undelivered mail.
