{"id":16174,"date":"2016-09-06T15:07:11","date_gmt":"2016-09-06T20:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=16174"},"modified":"2016-09-06T15:07:24","modified_gmt":"2016-09-06T20:07:24","slug":"attention-retirees-applications-for-holiday-temp-jobs-due-sept-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2016\/09\/06\/attention-retirees-applications-for-holiday-temp-jobs-due-sept-11\/","title":{"rendered":"Attention Retirees: Applications for Holiday Temp Jobs Due Sept. 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"news-date-inline\"><span class=\"date-display-single\">APWU &#8211; 09\/01\/2016<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>&#8211;<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Time is running short for APWU retirees who are interested in applying for temporary positions as Holiday Clerk Assistants: Applications are due Sept. 11.<\/p>\n<p>The<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><em>Peak Season Exception Periods<\/em><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>memo signed by President Mark Dimondstein and the USPS Vice President of Labor Relations in September 2015 has been carried forward into the new contract.\u00a0 Therefore, retirees will have the opportunity to be rehired as temporary Holiday Clerk Assistants again this year \u2013 this time in both Mail Processing and Customer Service.<\/p>\n<p>If a retiree takes advantage of this opportunity, it will have no adverse impact on his or her annuity.<\/p>\n<p>Those interested in working temporarily as a Holiday Clerk Assistant, must apply online at<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><em><a href=\"http:\/\/usps.com\/employment\" target=\"_blank\">www.usps.com\/employment<\/a>.<\/em><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>To apply, click on the \u201cSearch Now\u201d button, type<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><em>\u201cAnnuitant\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/em>in the space next to \u201cKeywords,\u201d and then click \u201cStart.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applications are being accepted until Sept. 11, 2016.<\/li>\n<li>The pay is set at $16.06 per hour (the same hourly rate as Grade 6 Postal Support Employees).<\/li>\n<li class=\"last\">The appointment is limited to a six-week period from Nov. 12 through Dec. 23, 2016, or Nov. 26, 2016, through Jan. 6, 2017.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"last\">\u201cThis represents an important opportunity for our retired members to put their postal experience to good use while they earn a little extra cash,\u201d Dimondstein said. \u201cI encourage all interested retirees to complete their applications as soon as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"last\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7249\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/1aa-APWU-small.gif\" alt=\"1aa-APWU-small\" width=\"295\" height=\"182\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>APWU &#8211; 09\/01\/2016\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Time is running short for APWU retirees who are interested in applying for temporary positions as Holiday Clerk Assistants: Applications are due Sept. 11.
