Delahanty II announced that Jayme L. Temoke, 29, of Lewiston, Maine was sentenced today in U.S. District Court by Judge Jon D. Levy to two years of probation for misappropriation of postal funds.\u00a0 She was also ordered to pay $4,367 in restitution.\u00a0 Temoke pleaded guilty on February 23, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>According to court documents, in June and July 2014, Temoke used her position as postmaster relief for the West Poland post office to embezzle $4,367 in postal funds by cashing money orders and not reporting their sale until she was able to cover the shortage with the proceeds of later embezzled money orders.\u00a0 When confronted, she told investigators that she was a single mother of three children who got into financial difficulty, started taking money intending to pay it back, but was unable to do so.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Postal Service, Office of Inspector General.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-11175\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Dept-of-Justice-Large-300x216.jpg\" alt=\"Dept of Justice Large\" width=\"300\" height=\"216\" srcset=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Dept-of-Justice-Large-300x216.jpg 300w, https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Dept-of-Justice-Large.jpg 459w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lewiston Woman Sentenced to Probation for Embezzling Postal Funds Portland, Maine:\u00a0 United States Attorney Thomas E.
