Update – 9\/02\/2016<\/strong> – TOLEDO \u2014 A Defiance man was sentenced Tuesday afternoon in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio, on one count of theft from the U.S. Postal Service. Douglas Bush, 20, was sentenced to three years of probation by Judge Jeffrey Helmick, with no fine, though a special assessment of $100 was imposed. In addition, he was ordered to pay restitution to the USPS in the amount of $15,929.90. Read more<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

TOLEDO \u2014 A sentencing date has been scheduled for a Defiance man indicted for stealing from the Leipsic Post Office while employed there last summer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Douglas Bush, 20, will appear before Judge Jeffrey Helmick of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio, for sentencing at 1:30 p.m. July 21. More from Crescent News<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Defiance man charged with stealing from U.S. Postal service<\/h1>\n

A Defiance man was indicted for allegedly stealing $22,000 in 2015 in his capacity as a postal employee, said Steven M. Dettelbach, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio<\/p>\n

Douglas A. Bush,\u00a020, was charged with one count of\u00a0misappropriation of U.S. postal funds.\"Dept<\/p>\n

If convicted, the defendant\u2019s sentences will be determined by the Court after reviewing factors unique to this case, including the defendant\u2019s prior criminal record, if any, and the defendant\u2019s role in the offense and the characteristics of the violation.\u00a0 In all cases the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases it will be less than the maximum.<\/p>\n

The investigating agency in this case is the United States Postal Service, Office of the Inspector General.\u00a0 The case is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Tracey Ballard Tangeman.<\/p>\n
