Finley announced that a Lafayette woman pleaded guilty Thursday to stealing gift cards from envelopes while working as a postal employee. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-11175\" style=\"border: none;\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Dept-of-Justice-Large-300x216.jpg\" alt=\"Dept of Justice Large\" width=\"300\" height=\"216\" srcset=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Dept-of-Justice-Large-300x216.jpg 300w, https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Dept-of-Justice-Large.jpg 459w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tonia R. Moore-Parker, 36, of Lafayette, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Patrick Hanna to one count of theft of mail matter by a postal service employee. The plea will become final when accepted by U.S. District Judge Donald E. Walter. According to the guilty plea, Moore-Parker worked as a U.S. Postal Service employee from October 8 to October 31, 2015 and was entrusted with mail matter. During that time, she opened five envelopes and stole gift cards worth $150.<\/p>\n<p>Moore-Parker faces five years in prison, three years supervised release, a $250,000 fine and restitution.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong>A sentencing date was not set.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General investigated the case.\u00a0 Assistant U.S. Attorney Dominic Rossetti is prosecuting the case.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAFAYETTE, La.\u00a0\u2013 United States Attorney Stephanie A.
