Stamp Highlights Gulf Islands National Seashore – 9th of 16 Stamps Celebrating National Park Service’s Centennial<\/h2>\n

Video Below – WASHINGTON – 4\/14\/16 – A photograph of a long-legged water bird with a wingspan that can exceed six feet was previewed today to highlight Gulf Islands National Seashore as the ninth of 16 Forever Stamp images to be revealed over a three-week period to celebrate the National Park Service\u2019s 100th anniversary.<\/p>\n

\nThe stamp image is a photograph of a heron by John Funderburk of Hernando, FL. Whether you visit the seashore for a day or a week there are many activities and places to explore. Each of the seashore’s many areas in Florida and Mississippi offer unique experiences. Visit this\u00a0<\/span>link<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>for more information.<\/p>\n

Other National Park Forever Stamps previewed to date include\u00a0<\/span>Acadia National Park<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span><\/em>Arches National Park<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span><\/em>Assateague Island National Seashore<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span><\/em>Bandelier National Monument<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span><\/em>Carlsbad Caverns National Park<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span><\/em>Everglades National Park<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span><\/em>Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and<\/em>Grand Canyon National Park.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

The June 2 first-day-of-issue ceremony for the National Parks Forever Stamps pane will take place at New York City\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Javits Center<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>at 11 a.m. as part of\u00a0<\/span>World Stamp Show-NY 2016<\/em><\/a>.<\/em>Dedication ceremonies will also take place at or near each of the National Parks depicted on the stamps. Individuals are asked to spread the news on social media by using the hashtags #NPSStamps<\/em><\/strong>, #FindYourPark\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong>or\u00a0<\/span>#NPS100<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

World Stamp Show-NY 2016 will take place May 28\u2013June 4. Held only once a decade, this mega event is not to be missed by beginners or advanced stamp collectors. There will be something for everyone there, no matter what you collect. Stamp collecting is a hobby for a lifetime. No matter what your specialty, you\u2019ll find it at the show.<\/p>\n
