{"id":14517,"date":"2016-03-30T07:39:06","date_gmt":"2016-03-30T12:39:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=14517"},"modified":"2016-03-30T07:39:06","modified_gmt":"2016-03-30T12:39:06","slug":"apwu-update-on-payment-of-56-million-settlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2016\/03\/30\/apwu-update-on-payment-of-56-million-settlement\/","title":{"rendered":"APWU: Update on Payment of $56 Million Settlement"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"field field-name-field-article-deck field-type-text field-label-hidden field-wrapper\">April 29 Deadline for Workers Who Weren\u2019t Listed or Whose Listed Amounts Were Wrong<\/h3>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<div class=\"body field\">\n<p><span class=\"news-date-inline\"><span class=\"date-display-single\">APWU &#8211; 03\/29\/2016<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>&#8211;<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The Postal Service notified the APWU that management has almost completed the paperwork to correct payment amounts due to employees for the initial portion of a $56 million monetary settlement of grievances protesting managerial personnel performing Clerk Craft duties in small offices.\u00a0 Approximately 300 corrections are outstanding.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of employees who received incorrect amounts in the initial payment should receive the remaining amount in paychecks dated April 22. Outstanding corrections should be completed by April 1, and payment for those individuals should be in paychecks dated May 6, management said.<\/p>\n<p>Employees who were identified for payment but received incorrect amounts do not have to do anything. The national union is monitoring the payments to ensure that the correct amounts are paid. (Retirees\u2019 checks will be sent to the last office they worked at before their retirement, but may be sent later. Retirees are encouraged to call their work location to see if their checks are available after April 22 or May 6.)<\/p>\n<p>Employees can verify the amount they are due by clicking<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/eseries.apwu.org\/eseries\/source\/security\/member-logon.cfm?section=unknown&amp;activesection=home\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>and entering their Employee Identification Number (EIN).\u00a0 Employees who were on the rolls as Part-Time Flexibles (PTFs) or who occupied Non-Traditional Full-Time (NTFT) assignments in Level 15, 16, and 18 offices during the period from May 7, 2011, to Dec. 5, 2014, are eligible for a portion of the payout.\u00a0 Each week employees were on the rolls during that timeframe counts as one share; each share is worth approximately $26.23.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Not on the List or Inaccurate Amount Listed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eligible employees whose names did not appear on the list or whose listed payment amounts do not match the amount employees<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><em>can document they are eligible for<\/em><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><em>must complete a<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apwu.org\/sites\/apwu\/files\/resource-files\/Article%201.6.B%20Payment%20Request%20Form%20for%20Second%20Round%20of%20Disbursements%20%28Revised%2011-20-2015%29.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Payment Request Form<\/em><\/a><em><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>by April 29 to ensure they will receive payment.<\/em><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Instructions for completing the form can be found in the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apwu.org\/sites\/apwu\/files\/resource-files\/Payment%20Request%20Form%20Submission%20Protocol%2011202015.docx\" target=\"_blank\">Payment Request Form Submission Protocol<\/a>. If you submitted this form at any time since the process began in November 2015, there is no need to submit another one.<\/p>\n<p>Employees who were not listed or whose amounts were wrong must complete Section A and submit the form and any supporting documents to their current local or state union. Employees in this group can assist the local or state union by downloading all their PS Form 50s for the payout period, May 7, 2011 to Dec. 5, 2014. \u00a0Instructions for retrieving the forms can be found<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apwu.org\/sites\/apwu\/files\/resource-files\/eOPF%20Retrieval%20of%20PS%20Form%2050%20for%20Active%20Employees.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Eligible retirees who were not listed or whose listed amounts were wrong also must complete Section A and submit the information to the local or state union that represents their last office of employment.<\/p>\n<p>Locals and state organizations will assist employees and retirees in gathering evidence when necessary, and will complete Section B of the form and forward the form to National Business Agents, who will verify the amount.<\/p>\n<p>National Business Agents will complete Section C by entering the total amount due or the difference between the amount listed and the amount owed.<\/p>\n<p>The<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apwu.org\/sites\/apwu\/files\/resource-files\/Article%201.6.B%20Payment%20Request%20Form%20for%20Second%20Round%20of%20Disbursements%20%28Revised%2011-20-2015%29.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Payment Request Form<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>and<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apwu.org\/sites\/apwu\/files\/resource-files\/Payment%20Request%20Form%20Submission%20Protocol%2011202015.docx\" target=\"_blank\">Payment Request Form Submission Protocol<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>have been provided to National Business Agents as well as to local and state presidents and are available at the APWU website. \u00a0National Business Agents will forward the forms with the verified amounts to the Clerk Division as soon as practical.<\/p>\n<p><em>The national craft director and assistant directors will not respond to inquiries directly.
