HARLEM – 1\/05\/16 – A dozen senior citizens, including State\u00a0<\/span>Sen. Bill Perkins<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and Assemblyman Keith Wright<\/a>, marched on the\u00a0<\/span>Manhattanville Post Office<\/a>\u00a0on 125th Street to protest of their lack of dedicated senior windows and benches to sit on.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat do we want?\u00a0A\u00a0senior window,\u201d and “When do we want it open? All day long,” the grey brigade shouted as they marched in circles in\u00a0the post office while an employee threatened to have anyone taking pictures arrested.<\/p>\n

The conflict stems from a meeting between the Community Board 9\u2019s senior committee and the Post Office last Spring, according to then-board chair Rev. Georgette Morgan-Thomas.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey said they would have a designated window open for seniors and disabled at 9 a.m. and they would look into\u00a0just for seniors and look into having chairs for people to sit in while they wait,\u201d she said. Read more<\/a><\/p>\n
