Corrigan today sentenced Jacksonville residents Victor Antinio Burks (28) and Yamil Sanchez (33) for stealing mail from a U.S. Postal Service contract facility.\u00a0 Burks was sentenced to 79 days\u2019 imprisonment, to be followed by two years of supervised release and 100 hours of community service.\u00a0 Sanchez was sentenced to two years\u2019 probation, a $500 fine, and 100 hours of community service.\u00a0 Both individuals pleaded guilty in June 2015. <a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Dept-of-Justice-US-Attorney.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-10947\" style=\"border: none;\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Dept-of-Justice-US-Attorney.jpg\" alt=\"Dept of Justice - US Attorney\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Dept-of-Justice-US-Attorney.jpg 225w, https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Dept-of-Justice-US-Attorney-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Dept-of-Justice-US-Attorney-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">According to court documents, Burks and Sanchez worked at a Jacksonville mail distribution facility operated by a contractor for the U.S. Postal Service.\u00a0 Between March and November 2014, Burks stole numerous items from the mail including 7 televisions, a tablet computer, 15-20 cellphones, 20-25 purses, and a videogame console.\u00a0 He admitted to agents that he had pawned the televisions and the tablet, and sold the rest of the items, estimating that he had made about $2,500 to $3,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Sanchez stole items from the mail for about two years, ending in the summer of 2014.\u00a0 He admitted that he had stolen a laptop computer, a compound bow, and a set of golf clubs, all of which he pawned. Sanchez also admitted to stealing a television that he later sold at a flea market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">This case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General. \u00a0It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Arnold B.
