{"id":12424,"date":"2015-09-19T08:45:32","date_gmt":"2015-09-19T13:45:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=12424"},"modified":"2015-09-19T08:49:04","modified_gmt":"2015-09-19T13:49:04","slug":"pen-does-not-support-carpers-ipost-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2015\/09\/19\/pen-does-not-support-carpers-ipost-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"PEN Does Not Support Carper&#8217;s iPost Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As previously stated, Postal Employee Network does not support the latest bill submitted by Delaware Senator Tom Carper (D).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/federalnewsradio.com\/management\/2015\/09\/postal-service-reform-bill-looking-for-stamp-of-approval\/\">Federal News Radio<\/a> tells us that Carper&#8217;s bill would not remove postal employees from the FEHB but would create a new Postal Service Health Benefits Program (PSHBP) within the\u00a0Federal Employees Health Benefits Program for postal employees and annuitants. The proposed PSHBP would remain managed by OPM, Office of Personnel Management, as is our current health insurance coverage. A similar idea was proposed before by former USPS management but would have had USPS manage the insurance program instead of OPM.<\/p>\n<p>As Federal News Radio reports, Carper&#8217;s bill would require all Medicare-eligible postal annuitants and employees enrolled in the PSHBP to also enroll in Medicare, including parts A, B and D &#8211; this is the portion of the bill that we firmly DO NOT support.
