{"id":12411,"date":"2015-09-18T08:10:52","date_gmt":"2015-09-18T13:10:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=12411"},"modified":"2015-09-18T08:10:52","modified_gmt":"2015-09-18T13:10:52","slug":"pennsylvania-postal-employee-charged-with-misappropriation-of-postal-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2015\/09\/18\/pennsylvania-postal-employee-charged-with-misappropriation-of-postal-funds\/","title":{"rendered":"Pennsylvania Postal Employee Charged With Misappropriation Of Postal Funds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SCRANTON &#8211; The United States Attorney\u2019s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced today Lori Haberle, age 45, of Kelayres, PA, has been charged in a one-count Indictment with misappropriation of Postal funds by a federal grand jury in Scranton.<\/p>\n<p>According to United States Attorney Peter Smith, in January through March 2015, \u00a0Haberle, a Postal Service support employee, misappropriated postal funds at the Kelayres and Quakake Post Offices in Schuylkill County, resulting in a loss of at least $1,155 to the United States Postal Service. <a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/4-Postal-Fraud-Theft-small.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-6542\" style=\"border: none;\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/4-Postal-Fraud-Theft-small.gif\" alt=\"4-Postal-Fraud-Theft-small\" width=\"247\" height=\"139\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The investigation of this case was conducted by the United States Postal Service.\u00a0 Prosecution is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney John C. Gurganus, Jr.<\/p>\n<p>Haberle faces a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment and fines totaling $250,000.<\/p>\n<p>A sentence following a finding of guilt is imposed by the Judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the Judge is required to consider and weigh a number of factors, including the nature, circumstances and seriousness of the offense; the history and characteristics of the defendant; and the need to punish the defendant, protect the public and provide for the defendant&#8217;s educational, vocational and medical needs.
