The merger would give Staples a\u00a0monopoly\u00a0in a key sector of the economy. <a href=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/1aa-APWU-small.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-7249\" src=\"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/1aa-APWU-small.gif\" alt=\"1aa-APWU-small\" width=\"295\" height=\"182\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis monopoly is no game,\u201d said APWU President Mark Dimondstein. \u201dA Staples takeover of Office Depot would mean higher prices and fewer choices for consumers, especially school kids and their parents. It would lead to more store closings and it would have adverse effect on workers.
