{"id":11585,"date":"2015-07-08T07:21:48","date_gmt":"2015-07-08T12:21:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=11585"},"modified":"2015-07-08T07:21:48","modified_gmt":"2015-07-08T12:21:48","slug":"nalc-election-notice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2015\/07\/08\/nalc-election-notice\/","title":{"rendered":"NALC: Election notice"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"meta\"><time datetime=\"2015-07-07\">NALC &#8211; July 07, 2015<\/time><\/p>\n<h2>Election notice<\/h2>\n<p><small><\/small><\/div>\n<p>Pursuant to an election complaint received by the United States Department of Labor\u2019s Office of Labor-Management Standards (OLMS), the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) has entered into a voluntary agreement with OLMS to conduct a new officer election for the position of NALC director of retired members, under OLMS\u2019 supervision. There will not be new nominations for this position. This new election will take place in September and October 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The election will be conducted by mail ballot. All NALC members are encouraged to update their address with the union by contacting the NALC membership department at (202) 662-2836 or by visiting<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/forms.nalc.org\/update\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/forms.nalc.org\/update.<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Ballots will be mailed to eligible members in the middle of September 2015 and will be due back in the beginning of October 2015. Further details and dates for this election will be provided in an official election notice to be included in<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><em>The Postal Record<\/em><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>and in the mail ballot packages.<\/p>\n<p>Campaigning\u2014Union or employer equipment (including copiers, computers, printers, telephones, e-mail, etc.), office supplies, websites, newsletters, social media, membership lists, facilities, cash, or any other financial or in-kind resources cannot be used to promote or attack any candidate in the election. This prohibition extends to the use of union funds or resources to publicize a branch\u2019s endorsement of a candidate. Campaigning cannot be conducted on union or Postal Service time (including during union meetings or training events) and Postal Service rules regarding campaigning must be followed. These rules apply to any union (including the national, state association, branch, and any other union) and to any employer (whether or not they employ union members). However, these rules do not prohibit branches from publishing in their newsletters campaign advertisements that have been paid for by a candidate.
