{"id":1138,"date":"2010-07-06T18:02:36","date_gmt":"2010-07-06T23:02:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=1138"},"modified":"2010-07-06T18:02:36","modified_gmt":"2010-07-06T23:02:36","slug":"postal-service-to-seek-january-2011-price-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2010\/07\/06\/postal-service-to-seek-january-2011-price-change\/","title":{"rendered":"Postal Service to Seek January 2011 Price Change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From USPS &#8211; July 6, 2010<\/p>\n<p>As outlined in the Postal Service\u2019s action plan presented on March 2, price changes are one of a series of solutions that we are pursuing to become financially sound.<\/p>\n<p>Later today, we will file with the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) a price change proposal for our Market Dominant products, which includes First-Class Mail\u00ae, Periodicals, Standard Mail\u00ae, Package Services and Special Services.<\/p>\n<p>If approved as proposed, the new prices would take effect on January 2, 2011 \u2013 almost two years since the Postal Service\u2122 last raised prices for Market Dominant products. We are seeking an average price increase of 4 to 6 percent for the majority of Market Dominant products.<\/p>\n<p>The prices we are proposing can be viewed online on Postal Explorer\u00ae at <a href=\"http:\/\/pe.usps.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">pe.usps.com<\/a>. Click on the links in the left frame under \u201c*New* Jan. 2, 2011 Proposed Pricing Information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The PRC has 90 days to review and make a final ruling on the filing.
