The dog bit on the leg, let go, bit on the abdomen I believe, let go, arm, let go and jumped up and did get some spots on his face,” said Alyssa Nesiba, the lead Animal Control Officer. Sammie has been taken by Animal Control and is under quarantine.

But Sammie’s owner, Jason Kucera said Bartling ignored a beware-of-dog sign posted on the front door.

“I’m not excusing for what the dog did, cause yeah, he did get cut. He did get bit. But when you want to ignore the signs, you’re basically entering the property at your own risk when you ignored everything,” said Kucera. He adds his mailbox is right on the sidewalk, before a chain-link fence and said Bartling should have left a pink slip in the mailbox and Kucera would have gone to the post office to pick it up. Read more

USPS mail carrier Randall Bartling was attempting to deliver certified mail to the door of a Grand Island home on June 3rd when he was attacked by a black lab named Sammie. “He did end up going to the emergency room.
