{"id":11162,"date":"2015-05-31T12:04:24","date_gmt":"2015-05-31T17:04:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=11162"},"modified":"2015-05-31T12:04:24","modified_gmt":"2015-05-31T17:04:24","slug":"video-local-apwu-leader-sheds-light-on-delay-of-postal-consolidation-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2015\/05\/31\/video-local-apwu-leader-sheds-light-on-delay-of-postal-consolidation-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Video: Local APWU leader sheds light on delay of postal consolidation plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ROANOKE, Va. &#8211;\u00a0 We&#8217;re learning more about the postal service decision to delay closing the Roanoke Mail Processing Facility.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Postal Service cited &#8220;operational considerations,&#8221; and the need to ensure &#8220;prompt, reliable and predictable service,&#8221; when it announced it will delay its consolidation plan.<\/p>\n<p>A local union leader says the facility in Greensboro that was slated to process Roanoke&#8217;s mail cannot handle the increase.<\/p>\n<p>Carlton Cooper is the President of American Postal Workers Union Local 482.<\/p>\n<p>He says Roanoke&#8217;s mail now goes to Greensboro to be cancelled.
