Negotiations with NRLCA reach impasse<\/h2>\n

The Postal Service and the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) have agreed to extend contraction negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement, USPS\u00a0<\/span>announced<\/a><\/em>\u00a0<\/span>May 21.<\/p>\n

Although the contract with APWU expired at midnight May 20, the Postal Service and APWU mutually decided to extend the negotiations deadline by one week to May 27.<\/p>\n

APWU represents more than 196,000 employees who work as retail associates, mechanics, vehicle drivers, custodians and some administrative positions.<\/p>\n

USPS also\u00a0<\/span>announced<\/a><\/em>\u00a0<\/span>that negotiations on a new labor contract with the National Rural Letter Carriers\u2019 Association (NRLCA) came to an impasse May 20.<\/p>\n

The parties will continue to follow the current agreement until a new contract is reached through the dispute resolution process.<\/p>\n

NRLCA represents more than 116,000 employees who deliver mail primarily in rural and suburban areas.<\/p>\n
