Dallas District Manager Timothy Costello took the officials to the Carrollton, TX, Post Office, where they saw how the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/liteblue.usps.gov\/news\/link\/2014\/07jul\/news09s2.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Passive Adaptive Scanning System (PASS)<\/em><\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>scans packages and helps carriers prepare them for delivery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur carriers are able to spend more time delivering and less time sorting, thanks to our investments in automation,\u201d Costello said.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives also toured the North Texas P&amp;DC, where Senior Plant Manager Larry Wagener showed how automation has made mail processing faster.<\/p>\n<p>As Abraham Nava Plasencia, Correos de M\u00e9xico\u2019s deputy director of logistics, watched one machine in action, he said, \u201cWow, this speed is amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Plasencia and other members of the delegation said they hoped to pursue automation when they returned to Mexico, where most mail is sorted manually.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>North of the border Mexican postal service hopes to emulate USPS technology USPS News &#8211;\u00a04\/27\/15 Mexican postal officials listen as Dallas District Manager Timothy Costello, center, explains how USPS loads mail into LLVs for delivery.
