{"id":10417,"date":"2015-03-24T07:33:49","date_gmt":"2015-03-24T12:33:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=10417"},"modified":"2015-03-24T07:35:52","modified_gmt":"2015-03-24T12:35:52","slug":"apwu-setting-the-record-straight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2015\/03\/24\/apwu-setting-the-record-straight\/","title":{"rendered":"APWU Setting the Record Straight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"news-date-inline\"><span class=\"date-display-single\">From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apwu.org\/news\/web-news-article\/setting-record-straight\" target=\"_blank\">APWU<\/a>: 03\/23\/2015<\/span><\/span> &#8211; Three in-depth flyers and a brochure just published by the APWU dispel common misconceptions about the Postal Service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith contract negotiations underway, it\u2019s important for union members \u2013 and the public \u2013 to know the truth about the Postal Service\u2019s phony financial crisis, the threat of privatization, and the potential for expanded and enhanced postal services,\u201d said APWU President Mark Dimondstein.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI encourage union activists to pass out the flyers in break rooms and cafeterias as they discuss the contract campaign with their co-workers,\u201d he said.\u00a0 Flyers have been mailed to local presidents for distribution.<\/p>\n<p>The information is also available in a<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apwu.org\/sites\/apwu\/files\/resource-files\/In-Depth%20BrochureV2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">brochure format<\/a>, which can be used when speaking with allies and potential allies. \u201cI hope APWU activists will distribute the brochures at meetings with local labor councils, state federations, community organizations, elected officials, the media, and others,\u201d Dimondstein added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAPWU members across the country are doing outstanding work \u2013 building unity, enthusiasm and activism in our campaign for a good contract.
