{"id":10169,"date":"2015-02-26T08:45:18","date_gmt":"2015-02-26T13:45:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/?p=10169"},"modified":"2015-02-26T08:45:18","modified_gmt":"2015-02-26T13:45:18","slug":"usps-new-program-improves-retail-lobbies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postalemployeenetwork.com\/news\/2015\/02\/26\/usps-new-program-improves-retail-lobbies\/","title":{"rendered":"USPS: New program improves retail lobbies"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Premier service<\/h1>\n<h2>New program improves retail lobbies<\/h2>\n<p><time class=\"pubdate\" datetime=\"2015-02-25T18:30:00.000Z\">USPS &#8211;\u00a02\/25\/15<\/time><\/p>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/liteblue.usps.gov\/news\/link\/2015\/02feb\/images\/news26s3.jpg\" alt=\"Premier Office\" width=\"220\" \/><\/div>\n<h6>Premier Post Offices are taking new<br \/>\nsteps to improve customer service.<\/h6>\n<p>The nation\u2019s top revenue-generating Post Offices are taking new steps to improve customer service, including keeping each location well-stocked, clean and orderly.<\/p>\n<p>The 3,100 Post Offices are part of the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/liteblue.usps.gov\/news\/link\/2014\/08aug\/news27s3.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><em>USPS Premier Office<\/em><\/a>\u00a0program, which recently began implementing the \u201c5-S\u201d plan, a series of five workplace principles that originated in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Each concept begins with \u201cs\u201d sounds in English and Japanese:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sort (Seiri).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Remove items that are not immediately needed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Set (Seiton).<\/strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Place needed items in locations that make them easier to use.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shine (Seiso).<\/strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Keep the area clean.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Standardize (Seiketsu).<\/strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Establish organizational standards.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sustain (Shitsuke).<\/strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Commit to order and cleanliness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cAll Premier Office employees should work together to implement these principles,\u201d said Retail and Customer Service Operations VP Kelly Sigmon. \u201cIt\u2019s another example of how this innovative program is setting new standards for excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Post Offices that participate in the Premier Office program account for 48 percent of USPS retail revenue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Premier service New program improves retail lobbies USPS &#8211;\u00a02\/25\/15 Premier Post Offices are taking new steps to improve customer service.
