GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) \u2014 If you have to go by scooter, Pat Carroll\u2019s is a sweet ride.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s also essential to her ability to get around.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t stand up for long periods of time because I got a bad leg and I\u2019ve had five back surgeries,\u201d Carroll said of the Progress Mobility three-wheel scooter, complete with headlights, turn signals, fenders and a 45-mile battery range.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s so handy. That\u2019s what I tell everybody that asks me. They say, \u2018Oh, I want one of those!’\u201d Carroll told Target 8.<\/p>\n
But the people in charge of the post office on Lake Drive in Grand Rapids\u2019 Eastown neighborhood apparently aren\u2019t fans of Carroll\u2019s scooter. She contacted Target 8 after a recent trip to the post office turned frustrating.<\/p>\n
Carroll said she has visited the station a number of times since she got her scooter over two years ago. But when she recently rode into the post office, she was told to park it someplace else.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe girl at the front desk yelled out, \u2018You can\u2019t come in here with that.\u2019 And I told her, \u2018Yes, I can,’\u201d Carroll said.<\/p>\n
